Rippling Expands EOR Program 2
Rippling has expanded its Employer of Record program to eight new countries. The change is part of the latest monthly release of the office application.
With EOR, a user can establish a legal entity in a country outside the United States, giving the user the ability to hire and pay employees in other countries. The latest additions are Colombia, Costa Rica, Denmark, Israel, New Zealand, the Philippines, Switzerland and Turkey.
In addition, Rippling is providing hourly workers with a weekly break down of pay on paystubs so they can see hours worked, including overtime, for each of the weeks included in the pay period.
Users can now down payroll comparison data as a CSV file. Rippling says it has also provided more efficient time-entry CSV imports for Time an Attendance since users can automatically reconcile timestamps based on the employee’s timezone and
filter down to a specific set of imported entries and delete only those
They can also import thousands of entries in seconds, versus 30 minutes.

Intuit is taking orders for an EMV Reader that will be necessary for businesses when a new credit card standard goes into effect in October. The new standard—short for Europay, MasterCard and Visa—provides credit and debit cards with embedded chips. ntuit notes businesses must be able to accept EMV cards or they will be responsible for fraudulent card-present transactions that occur when customers are using chip-based cards.
Dashboard, Apple Link Highlight Xerocon
Cloud accounting software vendor Xero introduced a business performance dashboard and integration with the Apple iOS at its Xerocon conference. At the conference, now underway in Denver, Colo., Xero said that the dashboard provides eight core performance metrics and more than 20 in Australia and New Zealand.

Indiana CPA Draws 34 New Counts
Jack Weichman, a Munster, Ind., CPA, has been charged with 34 counts that follo earlier charges he stole more than $600,000 from a doctor to pay for his gambling debts. A superseding indictment charged Weichman with nine counts of bank fraud, fourteen counts of bankruptcy fraud, two counts of money laundering, four counts of wire fraud, and five counts of filing false federal income tax returns.
Mayer Hoffman Draws Censure, $675K Penalty

Mayer Hoffman McCann has been censured by the Securities and Exchange Commission. The CPA firm has been ordered to pay almost $757,000 in disgorged profits, prejudgment interest and civil money penalties. The firm drew the action because one of its audit clients invested in CBIZ, with which it is associated. The SEC views Mayer Hoffman and CBIZ as one entity for auditor independence purposes.

The boom in subscribers for Intuit's QuickBooks Online shows no sign of slowing. The company this week reported there were 965,000 subscribers for the Internet-based accounting system on April 30 when the third quarter of the current fiscal year closed. It would take a major setback for the number to not pass 1 million in the July quarter.

Abila is readying the introduction of MIP Advance, an Internet-version of the long-marketed fund accounting package. The roll out begins in July with elements suited for CFPs and executive stakeholders of nonprofits organizations. AICPA Offers Six-Point Audit Plan

The American Institute of CPAs has issued a Six-Point Plan to Improve Audits, which the organization says is part of its effort to drive higher audit performance. The plan concentrates on financial statement audits for American private companies, employee benefit plans and governmental entities.
Sage Tries New Road with Life
Sage is preparing to release a new software product, Sage Life, that will be available in the cloud. Built on the SalesForce 1 platform, the application is anticipated to be ready for general availability when Sage hosts its annual Summit conference in late July. The company said pricing will be available with the general release.
