A CPA based in Detroit, Mich., has pleaded guilty to seeking $14.5 million in fraudulent loans from the Paycheck Protection Program. 

Avantax Planning Partners has named its Erpelding, Voigt & Co as Firm of the Year. The honor was one of many presented at the financial planning company’s 27th annual APP Elevate Conference.

 H&R Block increased its market share with do-it-yourself filers but that was offset by a decline in market share with its assisted tax preparation, the company said in discussing its results for the first quarter ended March 31.
