Former N.Y. Preparer Pleads to Fraud

A former Queens, N.Y., tax preparer has pleaded guilty to using a variety of bogus deductions to inflate client tax returns. Vanya Thompson, 39, who operated tax businesses under a variety of names, admitted falsifying items on returns, which the Depature of Justice said produced a tax loss of $250,000.
Frazier & Deeter Names Three Partners

Frazier & Deeter, an Atlanta, Ga.-based CPA firm has named three partners. The firm named Jennifer Gruner, a tax partner, and Jodi Prevost, an audit partner, both based in Atlanta, and Brandon Sherman, partner in the process, risk and governance practice in Nashville, Tenn.
Practice Aids Move into Deskbooks

Thomson Reuters is making its Interactive Practice aids are being incorporated into Checkpoint PPC Tax Deskbooks. Practice Aids can be accessed from inside Checkpoint and saved to a Checkpoint folder. They can also be exported.
