AICPA Launches Taxpayer Web Site

AICPA logoThe American Institute of CPAs has launched  www.360Taxes.org, a public service website that is designed to help taxpayers better understand the federal tax system. The site was developed to provide free, plain-English answers to the most common tax questions and is an extension of the AICPA's 360 Degrees of Financial Literacy program. 
Among the features of 360Taxes.org are Ask a CPA, which offers taxpayers a way to ask tax-related questions and read answers to questions from other taxpayers; frequently asked questions; tax tips and in-depth articles about tax topics; calculators that help determine the tax benefits of contributing to certain types of retirement plans and the cost of monthly mortgage payments; links to consumer-focused tax blogs written by CPAs; and resources for choosing a CPA.

Bob Scott has provided information to the tax and accounting community since 1991, first as technology editor of Accounting Today, and from 1997 through 2009 as editor of its sister publication, Accounting Technology. He is known throughout the industry for his depth of knowledge and for his high journalistic standards.  Scott has made frequent appearances as a speaker, moderator and panelist and events serving tax and accounting professionals. He  has a strong background in computer journalism as an editor with two former trade publications, Computer+Software News and MIS Week and spent several years with weekly and daily newspapers in Morris County New Jersey prior to that.  A graduate of Indiana University with a degree in journalism, Bob is a native of Madison, Ind
