The Internal Revenue Service has listed 32 taxpayer assistance centers which have reopened since August 2022 because of funding in the Inflation Reduction Act.
It also listed the opening of three new offices—Greenville, Miss., DASE (Guaynabo), Puerto Rico, and Ponce, Puerto Rico—because of the same funding.
The IRS has also begun a series of special events for taxpayers in areas not close to the agency’s offices. The new Community Assistance Visits began in June in Paris, Texas, with location determined Michigan, Nebraska, Idaho, Alaska, Hawaii, Oregon and New Mexico. The IRS announcement did not list the cities invovled.
During the visits, the IRS will set up temporary Taxpayer Assistance Centers to give taxpayers the opportunity to have face-to-face meetings with IRS assistors.
