Thomson Readies Tax Workpaper Tool

Scott FleszarThe Tax & Accounting business of Thomson Reuters is preparing to launch Workpaper CS next year. The application would enable firms to organize tax engagements into binders in the same way that audit engagement applications let professionals do the same with audit workpapers. Workpaper CS will be available in both on-promise and cloud form.

"This product is designed to route work papers and let users make notes on them and be able to edit them," says Scott Fleszar, the unit's VP of strategic marketing. "You are able to focus on that particular client, manage all the documents that go into preparing tax returns, route them to individuals and keep them organized and keep in the field." While there are several audit workpaper applications out, tax workpaper products are much rarer. One of the few is SurePrep's 1040Scan Organize.

Fleszar says the Thomson entry would be used not only for business tax engagements but also for 1040 engagements for higher net worth clients...
