An Accountemps survey has found that employers are increasingly receptive to remote work arrangements such as telecommuting and employees working from satellite offices. One third of chief financial officers surveyed said such arrangement have increased at their companies over the last three years while only 5 percent reported a decrease. Intuit is offering free use of its Tax Online tax preparation system from the filing of extensions through October 16. The company says the offer is good for new and existing customers. Intuit also says that it it plans to add states and 1041 forms for the 2011 version of the product, along with providing improved application performance.

The proposed acquisition of the Bureau of National Affairs has cleared an anti-trust hurdle. The companies announced they have received early termination of the waiting period under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976. Bloomberg can continue with a $39.50 per share tender offer to purchase BNA for about $990 million.
