Preparer Cited for $10M Bogus Deductions

A federal court has barred a Louisiana tax preparer Angelina Adams aka Angelina Morris, and her firm,Angie's Tax Service. from preparing federal tax returns for others. The Justice Department said for tax years 2013 and 2014, Adams may have generated more than $10 million in bogus deductions for her clients.

The American Institute of CPAs has named Skip Braziel as VP of state regulatory and legislative affairs. He will work closely with state CPA societies, state boards of accountancy, the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy, and elected state legislative and executive branch officials.

CPA Allegedly Helped Client Hide $3M

A Hawaii businessman, aided by his accountant, has been accused of failing to report more than $3 million of his firm's revenue. Assisted by accountant, Michael H. Higa, Wagdy A. Guirguis allegedly transferred assets to avoid an IRS assessment of about $812,000 on unpaid employment taxes for his engineering company GMP Associates and other businesses.
