The American Institute of CPAs and its for-profit subsidiary CPA.com will provide up to $20,000 in funding to five start-up companies. The winners will be early-stage companies that enter the selection process for the CPA.Com Startup Accelerator program.

The Internal Revenue Service has added several features to online accounts for individual taxpayers, including the ability to view up to 18 months of tax payment history. They can also see payoff amounts and tax balances due for each tax year via the accounts. 

Sage has agreed to sell its North American payments business to private equity firm GTCR. The latter company has agreed to pay $260 million for Sage Payment Solutions, which generates about $150 million in revenue. The deal is expected to close in the third quarter, the companies said recently.
