Return Fraud Earns CPA 15 Months

A CPA based in Spokane, Wash., has been sentenced to 15 months in prison for filing bogus corporate income tax returns. Roger Stadtmueller, who owned Stadtmueller & Associates, must also pay $400,000 in restitution to the Internal Revenue Service for understating income for his firm's parent company, by roughly $1.8 million for corporate returns for 2006, 2007 and 2008.
AccuFund Plans User Meetings

Nonprofit software vendor AccuFund has set dates for user group meeting. The Needham, Mass.-based company has set dates for the meetings between November 10 and December 2. The company says topics will include updates to AccuFund's current version, plans for the next version and year-end changes expected for this year.
IRS Names Private Tax Collectors

The Internal Revenue Service has selected four collectors to implement the private collection of federal taxes next spring. The program is designed to handle accounts that the IRS is not actively working for a variety of reasons, including the fact they are older or because of because of a lack agency resources.
