Michigan CPA Sentenced for Killing Boss

Andy Brown CPAAndy Brown, a 37-year CPA from Portage, Mich., has been sentenced to 37 ½ to 75 years in prison for the murder of his boss. Brown was convicted of second-degree murder for the shooting death of 70-year-old David Locey. Part of the sentence handed down last week was two years for the commission of a felony with a firearm.

Thomson Starts Research Certificate

Crafted for entry-level workers and those re-entering the workforce, the Checkpoint Learning Tax Research Certificate Program will require between 34 and 40 hours to complete. Those involved in the program can earn 22 hours of Continuing Professional Education Credits.

Intuit: 2M QB Online Users in 2017

IntuitIntuit expects to have 2 million QuickBooks Online subscribers within three years. That represents an increase of almost three times the 683,000 subscribers it had when it ended its fiscal year on July 31. The amount would nearly equal the total number of paying QuickBooks customers on desktop and online versions of the accounting product for fiscal 2014.
