Xero has added Inventory management and Online Quotes to its Internet-based accounting software. The New Zealand-based company also introduced Side-by-Side Files and Practice Reports for its cloud-based application, while also adding additional bank feeds to the product.

BloombergBNA is offering CPAs and legal professional unlimited access to its professional learning courses for a flat fee. Annual usual subscriptions provide access to webinars, on-demand and eLearning courses that qualify for CPE and CLE credits.

Wolters Kluwer, CCH Small Firm Services has introduced a web-based platform, CCH iFirm, that paves the way for placing its entire tax and accounting suite in the cloud. Currently, iFirm offers access to practice management and trial balance functions. But more applications likely will be placed under the iFirm umbrella to draw from a common database.

Sage has introduced an analytical tool called Sage View that the company says will help accountants  provide advisory services to client. But software publishers introduced those kinds of tools in the early 2000s and they went nowhere. So what does Sage think is different now?
