Sage's Miller Sees Channel as "Big Tent"

Sage North America sees room in its channel for small resellers and CPAs and has no intention of actively pruning its reseller base, according to Tom Miller, Sage's VP of channel management. That puts Sage's view of channel size in sharp contrast to Microsoft's effort to sharply cut back the number of VARs by driving out smaller resellers.

The American Institute of CPAs will probably have a new test for those wishing to qualify for its Certified Information Technology Professional designation for use in a year. It will replace an exam that was abandoned after most credential holders achieved their designation based on experience.

It will soon be five years since Charles Coe's accounting firm office in Metairie, a suburb of New Orleans was left in a pile of rubble by Hurricane Katrina, whose effects are still seen in the barren landscape of the city's Ninth Ward. Coe learned a lot about dealing with doing business during a natural disaster. And asked about the lessons, he gave a list that omitted many of the usual cautions about disaster planning and recovery.
