Rippling Expands EOR Program 2

 Rippling has expanded its Employer of Record program to eight new countries. The change is part of the latest monthly release of the office application.

With EOR, a user can establish a legal entity in a country outside the United States, giving the user the ability to hire and pay employees in other countries. The latest additions are Colombia, Costa Rica, Denmark, Israel, New Zealand, the Philippines, Switzerland and Turkey.

In addition, Rippling is providing hourly workers with a weekly break down of pay on paystubs so they can see hours worked, including overtime, for each of the weeks included in the pay period.

Users can now down payroll comparison data as a CSV file. Rippling says it has also provided more efficient time-entry CSV imports for Time an Attendance since users can automatically reconcile timestamps based on the employee’s timezone and

filter down to a specific set of imported entries and delete only those 

They can also import thousands of entries in seconds, versus 30 minutes.

Jackson Hewitt Getting 80% of RALs Funded

Jackson Hewitt logoTax preparation company Jackson Hewitt  this week moved closer to its goal of getting funding for refund anticipations loans for all locations for the next tax season. The company said that Republic Bank, which funded 50 percent of its of RALs last season and had been prepared to do the same in 2011, has agreed to provide funding for refund loans at 80 percent of its locations.

QuickBooks Going International

intuit logoIntuit is taking QuickBooks international, having just introduced its small business accounting product line in the United Kingdom, with a debut in Singapore scheduled for sometime during the fiscal year ended July 31. More English-speaking countries are likely to have introductions over the next three years as Intuit targets British Commonwealth countries.

Paychex Buying SurePayroll in $115M Deal

surepayrollPaychex has agreed to acquire SurePayroll, a Chicago-based provider of Internet-based payroll services, via a merger valued at roughly $115 millon. SurePayroll will operate as a subsidiary of Paychex and will continue to be led by its president, Michael Alter. The companies said SurePayroll has about 30,000 customers.

Jackson Hewitt Gets Assisted Transfer Funding

Jackson Hewitt LogoTax preparation company Jackson Hewitt says it has secured funding for all of its stores for assisted transfers through Santa Barbara Tax Products Group for the upcoming tax season. However, it still hasn't found backing for 100 percent of its stores for refund anticipation loans, which is needed to meet the terms of its agreements with lenders.

Block RALs Still in Doubt

Alan BennettH&R Block still doesn't know if it will have a refund loan program next year, the company told analysts as it reported results for the second quarter ended October 30. However, the tax preparation and business services company says it might offer a program via which taxpayers receive advances on refunds, minus tax preparation fees. Meanwhile the company remains in negotiations with HSBC, the bank that has funded its RAL program.

UBCC Speeds QuickBooks Import

Universal Business Computing Company has addedone-step client payroll import from QuickBooks for its payroll and write-up programs. Controls can be set to automatically adjust the employee number in QuickBooks to the one used by the payroll service bureau, as well as skip "0" checks, and reverse deductions, overheads and withholdings as needed.

Meta Rules Out RALS and Refund Transfers

Meta BankMeta Financial Group, which had been expected to fund a refund loan program, has ruled out the possibility of funding loans for the upcoming tax season through its Meta Payments Division. In an SEC filing, the bank reported it had concluded it would be unable to get the necessary federal approval to offer any tax-related programs in 2011. The language Meta used also indicates it would not provide a tax refund transfer program.

Former Deloitte Partner Faces Insider Charges

A former Deloitte partner and his wife have been charged by the SEC with insider trading that allegedly yielded $3 million for them and the wife's sister and her husband. The latter two, both residents of England along with three other British residents, face similar charges in that country. Read more...

Sage Getting French North American CEO

Sue SwensonAs Sage reported North American revenue had dropped for the year ended September 30, it also said that Sue Swenson, CEO of the largest unit in Sage's organization, will retire next year from the position she has held since March 2008 to be replaced by the current CEO of Sage France. That's following Guy Berruyer, another Frenchman, having become chief executive of the British parent Sage Group in October.
