Former CPA Gets Seven-month Sentence

Thomas D. Ziff, a former CPA who operated a firm in Atlanta, Ga., has been sentenced to seven months in prison for tax fraud. Ziff, who pleaded guilty to the charge in February which stemmed from his theft of about $300,000 from a trust associated with a client's will.
WK Revenues Rise 2 Percent

Wolters Kluwer has reported that revenue increased 2 percent for the first quarter ended March 31; an increase of 3 percent on an organic basis. The company also said it experienced a 1 percent positive impact from the strengthening of the U.S. dollar.
AICPA Offers Audit Certificates

The American Institute of CPAs is offering CPAs who perform single audits and employee benefit plan audits the ability to earn intermediate- and advanced-level certificates. The AICPA says the certificate program is designed to help auditors improve and demonstrate competency and quality when conducting these specialized engagements.
