The CCH Axcess Portal has been given a client new interface, CCH Client Axcess. Rewritten using HTML5 and principles of responsive design the features are similar to the client-facing ones in the Microsoft Silverlight version of Client Axcess Portal, Wolters Kluwer says.

A federal court has ordered the owner of a Liberty Tax Service franchise in Columbia, S.C., to stop preparing federal tax returns for others. Christopher Paul Haynes, who operated three Liberty stores in the Columbia area, and was accused of filing bogus claims for the Earned Income Tax Credit and also engaging in fee gouging and using phony Preparer Tax Identification Numbers.

The Fourth Annual Accounting Firms Open and Annual Technology Survey has been launched. Besides asking for input on current practices, authors Randy Johnston and Leslie Garrett say besides compiling that data, they will publish a three-year analysis of accounting firm software application usage based on the past surveys.
