Sage North America has introduced a program for accountants who specialize in the construction and real estate industry. Operating under the Sage Accountants Network, the program gives members access to construction accounting software and support.

A Pennsylvania CPA, the former president of B'nai B'rith, faces a possible 15 years in prison and a $1.5 million fine for preparing false tax returns. A federal jury in Philadelphia this week convicted Dennis Glick of Huntingdon Valley, Pa., for preparing the returns and trying to obstruct and impede internal revenue laws.

The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants is supporting the repeal of a law that requires withholding of 3 percent of payments made to government contractors, as well as certain other payments such as Medicare. The AICPA said it supports H.R. 674 which would repeal the requirement passed by Congress in 2005. Federal, state and local governments were affected by the law.
