Rippling Expands EOR Program 2
Rippling has expanded its Employer of Record program to eight new countries. The change is part of the latest monthly release of the office application.
With EOR, a user can establish a legal entity in a country outside the United States, giving the user the ability to hire and pay employees in other countries. The latest additions are Colombia, Costa Rica, Denmark, Israel, New Zealand, the Philippines, Switzerland and Turkey.
In addition, Rippling is providing hourly workers with a weekly break down of pay on paystubs so they can see hours worked, including overtime, for each of the weeks included in the pay period.
Users can now down payroll comparison data as a CSV file. Rippling says it has also provided more efficient time-entry CSV imports for Time an Attendance since users can automatically reconcile timestamps based on the employee’s timezone and
filter down to a specific set of imported entries and delete only those
They can also import thousands of entries in seconds, versus 30 minutes.

SmartPros ended a tough year on December 31 as the company reported a $1.6million loss on an 11.1-percent decrease. In June, the education course provider announced a Back-to-Basics program that led to the sale of assets of its Skye Multimedia operations, the abandonment of its custom ethics consulting business and a reduction in the number of lived events managed by its Executive Enterprise Institute division.
Companies Form Sovos Compliance

Tax software companies Convey Compliance Systems, Taxware, and VAT Resource have become Sovos Compliance. The combination brings together business that offer 1099 reporting, sales and use tax and value-added tax determination and compliance. The deal follows Taxware's purchase of VAT Resource a year ago and the merger of Convey and Taxware in the summer.

Abila, which produces nonprofit accounting and fund-raising software, has named four of its resellers to the Abila President's Circle. The four were honored at the company's recent conference, AUDC 2015 (Abila Users and Developers Conference) in Austin, Texas. The software company also presented excellence awards to several of its nonprofit customers.
Xero Adds Inventory, Online Quotes

Xero has added Inventory management and Online Quotes to its Internet-based accounting software. The New Zealand-based company also introduced Side-by-Side Files and Practice Reports for its cloud-based application, while also adding additional bank feeds to the product.
CPA Charged with Stealing Client's Funds

A Florida CPA has been arrested for allegedly stealing nearly $200,000 from an elderly client. The Sarasota County's Sheriff's Office has accused CPA Brian Strand of stealing the money, withdrawing much of it via ATMs at area casinos.
Xero and Intuit Get Ecommerce Links

Xero and Intuit have both expanded the links between their accounting software packages and ecommerce vendors. Xero has integrated its system with Shopify, an online company based in Canada, while Intuit has established integration between QuickBooks Online and both Shopify and Big commerce, based in Australia.
Sleeter Group Acquired

The Sleeter Group, which has been known for its annual small business accounting show, has been acquired by Diversified Communications. The purchaser is described as a family-owned, international media company. Founder Doug Sleeter remains with the company and his staff will continue working from the Pleasanton, Calif., office under the new ownership.

Nonprofit software vendor Abila has opened the online Abila Marketplace. The service enables customers to locate Abila resellers, implementers and independent software vendors while letting those organizations provide links to applications and services that they provide.
Xero Raises $110.8 Million
Low-cost accounting software vendor Xero has received $110.8 million as it plans to ramps up growth in the United Kingdom and the United States. The New Zealand-based company said this week it also plans to increase its efforts to enlist accountants and bookkeepers in this country in using its cloud-based products.
