Paychex Happy with FY 18 Start

Paychex began fiscal 2018 with what CEO Martin Mucci called a "solid" start. For its first quarter ended August 31, the payroll services company reported net income of $227.8 million, a 5-percent increase from $217.4 million in last year's corresponding period.
Former Fugitive Preparer Pleads Guilty

A 39-year-old Dallas, Texas, tax preparer, who was a fugitive for more than two years, had pled guilty to obstruction of justice. Shannon Tecoko Mays also faces a lengthy prison sentence because of his guilty plea to a February 2014 indictment that said he sought more than $6 million in refunds via bogus returns.
Intuit Vet McGinnis Joins WK

Jim McGinnis, a former Intuit executive, has joined the Tax and Accounting division of Wolters Kluwer. McGinnis takes on the job of EVP and GM of the medium and large segment for the business unit. He will report to the tax and accounting group's CEO Jason Marx.
