Avalara has hired Alessandra Almeida as its first managing director for its Latin America business. She will be based in the sales tax company’s São Paulo office from which she will manage day-to-day operations in Brazil.

ADP’s payroll bookings growth for the third quarter ended March 31 caused the company to raise its outlook for the year ending June 30. ADP reported this week its Employer Services business had bookings growth of 10 percent for the quarter.

A franchisee of the former Mo Money tax store chain has been sentence to five years in prison. Teresa Chism is the latest person formerly associated with the chain, which had once more than 300 stores in 13 states, to be convicted for tax return fraud. She continued operating tax businesses after the chain itself was closed.
