IRS Revises EIN Application Process

The Internal Revenue Service has revised the process for applying for an Employer Identification Number. Starting May 13, only individuals with tax identification numbers can request an EIN as the responsible party on the application.

Blucora, which owns TaxAct and H.D. Vest, is buying 1st Global and 1st Global Insurance Services for $180 million in cash. The acquisition is expected to close by May 30.
