Rippling Expands EOR Program 2

 Rippling has expanded its Employer of Record program to eight new countries. The change is part of the latest monthly release of the office application.

With EOR, a user can establish a legal entity in a country outside the United States, giving the user the ability to hire and pay employees in other countries. The latest additions are Colombia, Costa Rica, Denmark, Israel, New Zealand, the Philippines, Switzerland and Turkey.

In addition, Rippling is providing hourly workers with a weekly break down of pay on paystubs so they can see hours worked, including overtime, for each of the weeks included in the pay period.

Users can now down payroll comparison data as a CSV file. Rippling says it has also provided more efficient time-entry CSV imports for Time an Attendance since users can automatically reconcile timestamps based on the employee’s timezone and

filter down to a specific set of imported entries and delete only those 

They can also import thousands of entries in seconds, versus 30 minutes.

Florida Accountant Gets 80 Months in Prison

 Joseph Rizzuti, accountantA Florida accountant has been sentenced to 80 months in federal prison for conspiracy to commit wire fraud and for corruptly endeavoring to obstruct the Internal Revenue Service. Joseph Rizzuti of Stuart, Fla., received the sentence for stealing payments that two clients had intended to be used for taxes and for his role in siphoning off investors' money for personal use for his role in scheme in which he and others stole about $3 million.

AICPA Fields New Forensics Certificate

AICPA LogoThe American Institute of CPAs has launched the Forensics Accounting Educational Certificate  with a course of study designed for members that want to expand their knowledge of forensic accounting. The courses lay the foundation for certificate holdings to obtain the AICPA's Certified in Financial Forensics credential.

Xero Getting Foothold in Top Firms

Rod Drury, XeroXero, which makes Internet-based accounting applications, says it is making significant progress at top accounting firms in the United States. In a slide in presentation about its results for the year ended March 31, the company said it that "Over 10 of top 100 accounting firms in process of moving clients to Xero." However, the company has not provided details.

BANK INTEGRATION ADDED TO SAGE ONE

Sage One

Bank integration has been added to Sage One, the low-cost, Internet-based accounting system from Sage. The integration works with more than 10,000 banks and financial institutions. Users link as many bank accounts and credit cards with Sage One as they wish.

California CPA Gets 18-Month PCAOB Ban

Rehan Saeed, CPAA California CPA who is also a lawyer has been barred from associating with any registered accounting firm for 18 months by the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board. The PCAOB also censured Rehan Saeed for backdating concurring partner review documents for two clients after they had filed financial statements with the SEC. Read more...

Gilman Net Rises Despite Sales Decline

gilman renamed logoA decrease in expenses helped financial planning firm Gilman Cioccia record a 41.2-percent rise in net income for the first quarter ended March 31, despite a 10.9-percent drop in revenue. Much of the expense savings came from attrition among the company's independent financial planners who receive a higher commission payout percentage than do company planners. Read more...

Intuit Practice Management Debuts

Aaron Brady. IntuitTwo years after its intended launch, Intuit Practice Management software is on the market. An Internet-based product, the application works with the company's QuickBooks and Lacerte products. The company is rolling the title out with a 90-day free trial. Two VPs Out in Major Intuit Reorganization

Sasan Goodarzi, IntuitTwo veteran Intuit executives, Kiran Patel, the EVP who led the company's small business group, and Alex Lintner, the SVP who headed its global business division, are leaving the company. Their positions are being absorbed into the structure that includes three new divisions. Among the remaining executives, Jill Ward, the SVP who has led Accounting Professionals Division, picks up added global responsibilities. In fact, the announcement showed a strong focus on global business.

Wolters Kluwer Buys Brazilian Tax Company

Carlos Meni,  Prosoft TecnologiaWolters Kluwer, parent of CCH, has purchased Prosoft Tecnologia, a São Paulo, Brazil-based company that markets tax and accounting software in that South American country. Wolters Kluwer's entry into the Brazilian market follows rival Thomson Reuters, which entered the country with its 2011 purchases of tax and accounting software publisher, Mastersaf. Read more...

Beyond 415 Enhancements

The publisher, New River Innovation, has also added the Secure Data Connector to enable users to download and edit prefilled Beyond415 template documents in Microsoft Office programs, and automatically save changes back to Beyond415, which hands post-tax filing needs.
