Web design and editing have always been a problematic software category. When the World Wide Web debuted in 1990, it was largely a text-only system of document sharing using the Hypertext Markup Language (HTML).

Change has finally come to the category of planning and budgeting software, resulting in a round of improved capabilities, tighter integration with other software, and another potential revenue stream for accountants who are able to act as master planners and budgeters.

The software category of workflow management is exploding, with new versions, streamlined capabilities and new features. But there is an old adage that when you are up to your hips in alligators it is easy to forget that the intent was to drain the swamp.
