An electrical short that occurred just under two weeks ago caused the problems that led to Intuit's online banking system being down for several hours. The problem and the efforts to fix it were outlined this week by CEO Brad Smith during this week's conference call regarding the company's results for the first quarter ended September 30.

A mobile product campaign that include some applications being introduced this year and numerous "proof of concept" versions of CCH's software offerings was outlined today at CCH's user conference by Kevin Robert, CEO of Wolters Kluwers Tax & Accounting. That includes proof-of-concept mobile versions of ProSystem fx  and an application for checking filing status of electronic returns that will be delivered in 2012.

Acquisitions boosted revenue for the Tax & Accounting business of Thomson Reuters as EBITDA grew by 24 percent and revenue by 20 percent for the third quarter ended September 30. The Tax & Accounting business posted its fifth consecutive quarter of double-digit EBITDA increases, according to information provided in this week's earnings webcast.
