Rippling Expands EOR Program 2

 Rippling has expanded its Employer of Record program to eight new countries. The change is part of the latest monthly release of the office application.

With EOR, a user can establish a legal entity in a country outside the United States, giving the user the ability to hire and pay employees in other countries. The latest additions are Colombia, Costa Rica, Denmark, Israel, New Zealand, the Philippines, Switzerland and Turkey.

In addition, Rippling is providing hourly workers with a weekly break down of pay on paystubs so they can see hours worked, including overtime, for each of the weeks included in the pay period.

Users can now down payroll comparison data as a CSV file. Rippling says it has also provided more efficient time-entry CSV imports for Time an Attendance since users can automatically reconcile timestamps based on the employee’s timezone and

filter down to a specific set of imported entries and delete only those 

They can also import thousands of entries in seconds, versus 30 minutes.

Wolters Kluwer Exec Leaving

Jack Lynch,  Wolers KluwerJack Lynch, a member of the Wolters Kluwer executive board, is leaving the company to take a job as CEO of a U.S. company. As a member of that board he has been one of the top three executives of the parent of CCH. Lynch joined the company in 2006 and became a member of its executive board in April 2007.

Gilman Gets Fines Reduced

Gilman Ciocia logoFines and legal costs took a bite out of Gilman Ciocia's cash during the year ended July 31. However, the financial planning and tax preparation firm was successful in getting proposed fines substantially reduced in Florida, where it has faced ongoing legal issues regarding variable annuities sold a few years ago. Meanwhile, the company was able to sharply cut its losses for fiscal 2012, although revenue dropped slightly. Read more...

H&R Block Pulls Out of Sears

Bill Cobb, H&R BlockH&R Bock, which last month said it would slash its presence in Sears, has decided to sever the relationship completely. In a end-of-the month filing with the SEC, the Kansas City, Mo.-based tax services chain made a brief, but clear statement about the end of Block locations within Sears stores. That came as rival, Jackson Hewitt, announced a new agreement with the retail company.

Liberty CEO's Pay Dips

John Hewitt, Liberty TaxWith last year's pay pumped up by an opitions grant of $712,500, John Hewitt, CEO of Liberty Tax parent JTH Holdings, saw his pay for the year ended April 3. His compensation dropped to $619, 791 for the most recently ended year from $1.3 million a year ago. The drop stemmed from the fact that Hewitt received no options grant in fiscal 2012. Read more...

Paychex Payroll Revs Creep Up

Paychex logoPayroll service revenue rose 1 percent for Paychex, which has reported its first quarter ended August 31. That came as checks per payroll rose by 2 percent over last year and revenue per check grew largely by price increases which were partially offset by discounting. And overall, increases in both revenue and net income both rose by 3 percent over last year's corresponding period. Read more...

Options Double Paychex CEO's Pay

Martin Mucci, PaychexCompensation for Paychex CEO Martin Mucci more than doubled for the year ended May 31. Mucci earned just over $7 million for the most recently ended year, up from $3.3 million in 2012 with a big jump in options award figuring heavily in the total. Read more...

Taxpayers Lose Fee Suit Against Intuit

Judge Edward J. DavilaTwo California residents have lost a suit claiming an Intuit fee for proposing electronically filed tax returns violated state laws. The suit by Tasha and Frederick Smith was dismissed by a judge who held they did not prove that Intuit's fee was a loan. They also did not show they suffered economic harm and therefore had no standing to bring suit under other laws cited. Read more...
