Bowman Names Three Partners 1
Bowman & Co. has named three staff members to the partner ship group this month. The New Jersey CPA firm promoted Kenneth M. Drews, Michael Thilker and Josette Traversa.
Drewes joined the firm’s Governmental Services Department in 2009 with expertise in audits of county and municipal governments, school districts, charter schools, fire districts, and federal and state financial assistance programs.
Besides being a CPA, he is also licensed as a Registered Municipal Accountant, and as a Public School Accountant in New Jersey and is also a Certified Municipal Finance Officer. He has also been certified by the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs, Division of Local Government Services as a Certified Municipal Finance Officer.
Working in the Commercial Services Department, Thilker has worked at Bowman since April 2013 and is a CPA in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey. His clients mainly include housing authorities and non-profit affordable housing organizations and his experience includes audits of non-profits.
Traversa came to Bowman in September 2022 after near four years at CPA firm Citrin Cooperman where she was director of international tax services from November 2018 and partner from October 2021 until she joined Bowman. Before that, she spent two-and-a-half years at D&H Global Tax Group.
She primarily focuses on tax matters and is responsible for a wide range of individuals and businesses with experience that includes
tax consulting and review for individuals, partnerships and S Corporations.

Xero has named PayPal executive Peter Karpas as the company's first North American CEO. And the New Zealand-based cloud software company showed the importance of the market in the United States by naming a former Microsoft CFO as the company's new chairman.
Ward Leaving Intuit Job

Jill Ward, who has headed Intuit's programs for accountants, is leaving the company. In a letter, Ward says she would leave the Mountain View, Calif.-based company in March to return to be near her family in Boston, Mass. She will be replaced by Jim McGinnis, who joined Intuit in 2010 as VP of the Accounting Professionals Division. McGinnis brings several years of international experience to the accountant program.

Councilor, Buchanan & Mitchell, a Bethesda, Md.-based accounting firm, has elected Peter Reilly, CPA, CVA, to the positions of president and managing partner. He succeeded S. Vincent Crescenzi, CPA, CVA, CFE, who had held the positions since 2000 and becomes chairman of the board. Reilly will lead the firm's operations, focusing on business development, process improvements, client satisfaction and employee development.

JTH Holding, the parent of Liberty Tax Service, has hired Kathleen E. Donovan, as CFO as of February 1. She replaces Mark F. Baumgartner who has moved to the role as CEO of JTH Financial. Donovan had been CFO of Catapult Learning since 2008. She was with MedQuist from 2005 through 2008, and Dendrite International from 2002 through 2005.

The Rainmaker Companies, which provide consulting and training resources for the accounting profession, have named J. Daniel Brooks as CEO. He replaces Troy Waugh, who has stepped aside from day-to-day duties after 23 years as CEO of the business he founded.

Mirabile joins the Houston, Texas-based firm as national director and will continue serving the CPA profession after working at CCH since 1989.

Teresa Mackintosh has been named CEO of CCH Tax & Accounting U.S. A former executive with Thomson Reuters, Mackintosh joined the rival tax and accounting vendor in April 2012 and become EVP/GM, Software, CCH Tax & Accounting North America in January 2013. She was most recently president of CCH U.S. Software.
CCH's Bergstein Goes to Intuit

David Bergstein, CPA, CITP, a long-time manager at CCH, has taken a position with Intuit. Mostly recently director of strategic relationships for CCH, Bergstein joined Intuit as cloud consultant. He joined the company in June 2004 and is the latest in a number of tax and accounting veterans who have left the tax and accounting giant.
