Bowman Names Three Partners 1
Bowman & Co. has named three staff members to the partner ship group this month. The New Jersey CPA firm promoted Kenneth M. Drews, Michael Thilker and Josette Traversa.
Drewes joined the firm’s Governmental Services Department in 2009 with expertise in audits of county and municipal governments, school districts, charter schools, fire districts, and federal and state financial assistance programs.
Besides being a CPA, he is also licensed as a Registered Municipal Accountant, and as a Public School Accountant in New Jersey and is also a Certified Municipal Finance Officer. He has also been certified by the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs, Division of Local Government Services as a Certified Municipal Finance Officer.
Working in the Commercial Services Department, Thilker has worked at Bowman since April 2013 and is a CPA in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey. His clients mainly include housing authorities and non-profit affordable housing organizations and his experience includes audits of non-profits.
Traversa came to Bowman in September 2022 after near four years at CPA firm Citrin Cooperman where she was director of international tax services from November 2018 and partner from October 2021 until she joined Bowman. Before that, she spent two-and-a-half years at D&H Global Tax Group.
She primarily focuses on tax matters and is responsible for a wide range of individuals and businesses with experience that includes
tax consulting and review for individuals, partnerships and S Corporations.

Liberty Tax has named James J. Wheaton as chief compliance officer. Wheaton, who is taking on a new role, serves as general counsel for both Liberty Tax Service and its principal subsidiary, JTH Tax, which does business as Liberty Tax Service. Wheaton will continue was counsel for Liberty Tax and as VP of legal and governmental affairs.

Citrin Cooperman, a New York, N.Y.-based tax and accounting firm, has hired CPA Joseph Lesovitz as part of its Valuation and Forensic Services practice. Lesovitz, based in the firm's office in Philadelphia, Pa., specializes in calculating damages and providing financial consulting and forensic accounting services.

Xero has named Tony Stewart to the newly created position of chief data officer. The New Zealand-based cloud accounting software company says in this new role Stewart will be responsible for accelerating automation, business systems rollout and big data innovation.

Sage North America has hired Ray Barlow as VP of accountant solutions. Barlow comes to Sage after leading Intuit's Accountant & Advisor Group at a time when that company was building a program to service accounting firms. At Sage, he has responsibility for the accountant business in North America.

Weaver, a Dallas, Texas-based accounting firm, has named six employees as partners. These include Sara Dempsey in assurance services, who joined the firm, in 2005 and Rob Myatt, in tax and strategic business services, who came to Weaver in 2006 as a manager.

Xero has hired Sankar Narayan as its CFO effective in October. He will move into the position vacation when Douglas Jeffries resigned the position in February after eight weeks on the job. Narayan joins the low-cost cloud accounting software manufactuer after serving as CFO of Virgin Australia for four years.

Former CCH CEO Mike Sabbatis has been hired as COO of XCM Solutions. The company also named its VP of sales and marketing, Bob Locke, as chief revenue officer. XCM says the moves reflect its plans for expanding operations and said its second-quarter revenue was 121-percent higher than the corresponding period a year earlier.
Sage Taps Warawa for Global Job

Jennifer Warawa, who has led Sage's accounting program in North America, has been selected to head worldwide efforts. She took the new position this month after being involved with the Sage Accountants Network for several years. Warawa joined Sage in 2008 as director of partner programs, a position she held for two years.

Dean Sonderegger has left BloombergBNA where he played a key role in that company's software program from more than 12 years. Sonderegger has joined Wolters Kluwer Law & Business as VP and GM of that company's Legal Markets Group. He was executive director of product management and marketing, software segment.
Xero Names U.S. Accounting Head

Xero has named Amy Vetter as its first Head of Accounting in the United States. Vetter's position is one in which she is described as evangelist for accounting, practice management and supporting financial solutions. It is not one in which she is involved in the company's accounting department.
