When Google held its annual I/O Conference for its developers and partners, it announced a bunch of new products and services. This is a company that doesn’t stop innovating. It is not afraid to invest in new ideas, make changes, expose themselves to criticism. It is also not afraid to kill projects that aren’t working out either. Good for them.

"Our software is terrible!" "Our systems are out of date!" "We need something that's more user-friendly." I hear this pretty frequently. And mostly it's not true. It's an excuse. The truth is that most business software that's on the market today, particularly if it's from a long time and reputable vendor, is good and likely able to do the job that it was intended for. Usually when there's a problem it's not a software problem. It's a people problem.

When I started my company back in 1994 I could only dream of certain things.  I dreamed of no longer having to wear a "pager" when someone needed to contact me. I dreamed of not being forced to find a payphone to call clients when out of the office. I dreamed of a lighter laptop computer with more power that was easier to use.
