Intuit is offering sharply discounted pricing on add-ons for its Lacerte and ProSeries tax users under a promotion that expires on January 31. It's the first time Intuit has used this particular approach in promotional pricing, which is available only to first-time customers of each add-on purchased.

Following the issuance of a decision by an arbitration panel, McGladrey & Pullen agreed to continue its alternative practice relationship with H&R Block. That followed M&P's announcement in July that it planned to withdraw from the two-and-a-half-year old Administrative Services Agreement that spelled out the terms under which the two did business.

Most clients have stopped requesting price concessions from Morningstar, which says it has implemented some small fee increases and also planned what it called a modest hike for Premium memberships in January .
