NASBA Announces Ed 'The Rainmaker' Robinson, CPA, to Keynote National CPE Expo

The National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) announced today that Ed Robinson, CPA will deliver the keynote address, "Rainmaking Strategies for Business Growth," at its National CPE Expo on September 21-23, 2009 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio. The keynote address will be delivered during a luncheon from noon to 2 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 21, 2009.

In Flight WiFi - a Hands-on Test

I’m aboard Delta flight 1147 from MSP to ATL (that’s Minneapolis to Atlanta for those of you so fortunate as to NOT travel enough to immediately recognize airport codes) and am testing the new “WiFi with wings” service by GoGo.

At about 4,000 feet the flight attendant announced that we were at the appropriate altitude and the WiFi was on and available. My new MacBook Pro found the SSID immediately and I was presented with a registration page. Sign-up was a snap (I set up an account because I know I’m enough of a sucker to pay $9.95 for access for a short flight -- or $13.95 for an 3-plus hour flight. So, now I’m set to go and immediately headed to CNET.com for a speed test. Pretty impressive, actually! Results after the jump.

Yoggie’s Gatekeeper Pico Miniaturized Computer

I first saw Yoggie Security System at CES 2008 -- and this year they made a second appearance and I took a second look. They make itty-bitty USB computers. Yup, that’s right -- computers.

They actually have an OS (it’s Linux) in a USB device and the little guys provide some pretty amazing security  services. Essentially it replaces your software firewall and protects your computer from malicious attacks -- with a PHYSICAL barrier. The result looks to be a performance boost since all the “thinking” is done by the Yoggie device. Pretty interesting concept for somewhere in the $120 range with the free copy of Kaspersky™ Anti-Virus.
