Liberty Tax has named Laura Contreras Rowe as COO of its SiempreTax+ business, which is designed to provide tax preparation and other services to the Hispanic market. While Liberty, which operates a franchised store chain for tax preparation, announced her hiring in the last week, Contreras Rowe has been on the job since August.

Doug Burgum, an executive with the former Great Plains Software and later Microsoft, is seeking the Republican nomination to be governor of North Dakota. News wire stories say Burgum doubts he will win the endorsement from party at its convention but will run in the primary in June.

Nonprofit software vendor Abila has named Bethany Little as VP of client services. She joins the Austin, Texas-based company after serving from May 2014 as VP of customer success at HotSchedules. Little was employed at the former Convio from March 2007 until its acquisition by Blackbaud.

Irvine, Calif.-based Haskell & White has hired Eleanor Schultz as the firm's director of finance and administration. Schultz moves into a newly created position and will overs internal accounting and finance functions, human resources, and facilities. The CPA firm specializes in four areas: the real estate, manufacturing/distribution, technology and not-for-profit markets.

Liberty Tax has named James J. Wheaton as chief compliance officer. Wheaton, who is taking on a new role, serves as general counsel for both Liberty Tax Service and its principal subsidiary, JTH Tax, which does business as Liberty Tax Service. Wheaton will continue was counsel for Liberty Tax and as VP of legal and governmental affairs.
